Position: Chef

We’re seeking a passionate Chef to lead or join our dynamic team. Bring your flair for modern Australian cuisine, a love for fresh produce, and the drive to innovate in a fast-paced brunch and catering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee the culinary operations of Nine Yards Café
  2. Work independently and lead the kitchen team
  3. Assist in designing and executing seasonal and weekly special menus inspired by fresh ingredients and trending dishes.
  4. Ensure kitchen cleanliness and organization, maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.
  5. Manage stock, including ordering fruits and vegetables, and ensure proper storage in the cool room, freezer, and dry storage areas.
  6. Supervise food preparation and service, ensuring quality standards and dietary requirements are consistently met.
  7. Train and supervise junior kitchen staff, including cooks and kitchen assistants.
  8. Ensure compliance with all food and health safety regulations at all times.

About You

  1. Formal culinary qualification (Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent) preferred, but not mandatory with 3+ years of experience.
  2. Proven experience in fast-paced brunch/breakfast kitchens.
  3. Ability to work unsupervised and manage a team effectively.
  4. Expertise in seasonal menu design and dietary-specific cooking (e.g., vegan, gluten-free).
